The tools needed are:
ratchet, 8mm socket,
straight screw driver,
needle nose pliers,
small extension,
crimpers, and depending
on your teather mabey a
small allen key, a heat
gun(a lighter will work
just as well) |
 |
Other materials: Teather
switch, heat shrink
tube, 1/4" male spaid
connector, 1/4" female
spaid connector, an
eyelet connector, and a
couple of zip ties
|
 |
To start you have to
take out the 2 bolts on
both sides, that connect
the fender into gas
tank. |
 |
then take out the bolt
on each side of the
front of the gas tank
|
 |
Then take off the 2
rubber straps (one on
each side) that hold the
rear of the gas tank on,
I use pliers to grab the
metal clip from the top.
It's kind of hard to see
in the picture, but I
circled the strap. It's
not necessary to take
off the back plastic,
but it does make it a
little easier.
Then MAKE SURE to turn
the gas off and slide
the clip back on the
fuel feed line, then
remove the feed line,
then remove the gas
tank. |
 |
Once the gas tank is
removed, remove the
plastic plugs from the
engine cover and the
coolant overflow jug |
 |
As well as the 2
plugs from the rear of
the engine cover. |
 |
Then slide it out to the
side |
 |
Now that all of that is
out of the way unplug
the wire connected to
the coil
|
 |
Take your tether switch
and crimp on the eyelet
connector to the ground
wire (on my Pro design
the longer wire is the
ground check your
directions first) |
 |
I used a butt connector
and connected two wires
to the other wire to
split them like this and
crimp on a male spaid
and a female spaid
connector |
 |
Then slide the heat
shrink tube over the
connectors and use the
heat gun(or lighter) |
 |
When that's all done it
should look like this |
 |
Now all you have to do
is mount the kill switch
on your bars, and route
the wires down the left
side to the coil |
 |
Hook up the ground wire
to the bolt where the
coil is grounded, at the
back of the coil, under
the frame rail |
 |
Connect the female spade
connector to the coil,
and the male to the wire
that originally was on
the coil.
|
 |
Secure the wires to the
frame with a couple of
zip ties and put
everything back
together, make sure to
put the breather tube
back on if you knock it
off while putting the
engine cover back on |
