Review:
How does one review a sprocket? Is it pretty? Sure. Does the chain ride on it correctly? Yep. What I am getting at is there aren't to many categories to rate a sprocket on. Essentially for the sprocket to be a quality product it has to be strong, wear resistant, and not weigh as much as a boat anchor.. The Dirt Tricks sprockets do just that... with a vengeance. These are some seriously  tough sprockets. For the last 6 months I have abused the Dirt Tricks sprockets and they still show hardly any wear. It would be one thing if I rode all groomed trails on 250EX. However I have ridden in nasty, muddy, rock riddled trails on a built 450. Most would be happy to get 6 months out of a sprocket in these conditions. I'm thrilled that I have reached this point and the sprockets still look great! How about weight? Dirt Tricks claims that there sprockets are much much lighter than OEM and only a bit heavier than Aluminum. I can see this being the case on dirt bike as they use a much larger sprocket. However on the 450R application I measured about 4-5 ounces lighter (roughly). I think the bigger picture in this case is making a near bulletproof sprocket while still shaving some weight as compared to OEM. How about strength? Well this isn't something I could readily test as I don't have the tools to measure tolerances, deflection, or anything like that. I will provide some images from www.dirttricks.com  that show how they test, and where they set their bar. Now the part where I talk about the bad stuff. Well there isn't any. If I were to nit pick and try to find a negative it would be price. At 141.00 for a set of sprockets the Dirt Tricks are a little pricier than most but still less than others. Are they worth it though? Hell Yeah!

Conclusion:
Most of us wont think twice about dropping a few hundred on an exhaust or 150 on top of the line tires. However in my everyday job I see people cringe at the cost of a quality chain and ask for the cheapest sprockets available. This is the mechanical link between your high performance engine and your top of the line rear rubber. I haven't tested everything out there but I have seen quite a bit. As far as I am concerned Dirt Tricks stands head and shoulders above the competition.
